How are CSJ Award winners chosen?
Every year, the CSJ team combs the country to identify the most outstanding, innovative and effective organisations fighting poverty on the frontline. We look for charities that help the hardest to reach, inspire us with their impact, and have found ways of scaling their work beyond their own neighbourhoods. On average, the CSJ team meets three Alliance charities every day.
The CSJ supports nearly 1,000 grassroots charities across the UK through our Foundation's regional offices. This support includes connecting charities with policymakers, introducing them to philanthropists, and helping them address the day-to-day challenges they face. Through this work, we've built strong relationships with these organisations and identified them as potential CSJ Award candidates.
The CSJ Foundation team then undertook a rigorous application process, including desk-based analysis, site visits and extensive discussion, enabling us to narrow the field down to 12 finalists. The task of selecting the winners now falls to our independent and esteemed panel of judges, whose expertise spans a wide range of sectors.
