Philanthropists

The CSJ Foundation introduced us to a group of grassroots charities across the country, which were precisely the kind of organisations we want to support but would find impossible to find on our own. Getting the chance to meet these charities, and the communities they serve, on their terms and in their context made all the difference to seeing the tangible impact they are having on the ground. This is exactly the sort of thoughtful, well-judged introduction that gives us confidence in our giving.

The team at the CSJ Foundation treat my giving with great care. They bring forward charities doing exceptional, often unseen work well before they are widely known, and do so with a real understanding not just of the facts, but of the genuine character of the people leading them. That insight, alongside sound judgement and local knowledge, has given me confidence that my time and funding are backing leaders and organisations that truly make an impact.

Charities

We make life changing biscuits through our ‘Half the Story’ social enterprise, it’s an exciting time for us and working with the CSJ Foundation has allowed us to dream big. Whether it’s connecting us with philanthropists who we would otherwise never meet, amplifying our work through their policy projects, or simply knowing that the team are always there if I need them, we have found a relationship with the CSJ Foundation invaluable.

Charities

The CSJ really put effort in to cover all corners of the UK, one of their team recently visited us in Belfast, and we were able to attend their Big Listen 2025 series. It’s great to know that an organisation based in Westminster wants to really get to know us, and the work we do. I’m excited about what can come from this relationship.

It isn’t everyday a national policy think tank finds you like a needle in a haystack and asks how they can get to know you. The CSJ Foundation put in time to get to know my team and the young people we support everyday in Blackpool. I think the CSJ’s research is stronger as a result, I am continually hopeful together we can create change for young people up and down the country in these hard times.

Charities

As a relatively small but growing charity, working with the CSJ Foundation has been invaluable. They have supported us in connecting with philanthropists and expanding our reach (including our very first billboard campaign!), helping more children and young people get involved in volunteering and engaged with their communities. TimeGivers reimagines volunteering for ages 4-18, creating safe, structured and inclusive ways for young people to give back. The CSJ Foundation shares our vision and actively supports us in turning it into reality.

‘The CSJ Foundation gives a voice to charities like us, who are proven in being effective in breaking cycles of disadvantage impacting young people’s lives, but often don’t get a seat at the Westminster table. Connecting North Wales and the North West of England with Westminster is often challenging, but working with the CSJ Foundation we can make change for young people both here and right across the UK.’

It was a privilege to serve as an advisor on the CSJ’s recent project, ‘Change the Prescription’. Through the CSJ Foundation I can share the change I know is needed from working with young people across Sheffield and drive national policy change, connecting ourselves and other grassroots charities with the corridors of power.

We won a CSJ Award in 2023 for our job finder work with people with convictions, and that has acted as such a springboard for our work. Since then, we have worked closely with the CSJ Foundation on our plans to scale up nationally and help many thousands more prison leavers and ex-offenders into work across the country. It’s great to work with an organisation who back what you do in so many ways.
